Victorian Window Boxes

This Victorian-style window box adds some real rustic romance to your garden, balcony or patio. Designed to look like an aging antique, it is an equisitely made ironwork box with zinc tray, perfect for holding pots of flowers and herbs.

Why not place one on a low, bare wall or ledge and fill it with ivy and voluminous perrenials - it will look even better when the rustic wire arches are just peeking out beneath the foliage.

White windowboxes come at a price...

We have been searching high and low for a white window box at Garden Boutique. It is not an easy task, as so many white window boxes begin to look tatty and cheap after only a couple of weeks in the garden.

Finally, we have found a white window box that stands up to the task. The bad news is that it is not cheap. It seems perfection comes with a hefty price tag.

The good news is that these white window boxes are nigh on indestructable. The planters are colour powder coated as a whole single piece so that there are no seams or joints on the exterior surface into which water could penetrate. Then they are baked at 180 degrees centigrade to allow the powder colour to super adhere into the aluminium surface to create exceptional colour longevity.

Each white window box comes with a 16 year colour guarantee so you know it will look good for years to come.

Hanging windowboxes - adjustable hooks and window box brackets

Window box brackets back in stock. The full range of hanging window box brackets, wall brackets and adjustable window box brackets are back in stock at Garden Boutique.

Now that spring is beginning and the weather is improving, it is the perfect time to plant up your window boxes for spring. Choose from our popular aged zinc window box, stylish black terrazzo window box troughs or the classic galvanised steel window box.

We even have a limited edition range of bronze window boxes available this spring (while stocks last)

We have window box brackets to fit every window box in our range. Ring or email if you are having trouble choosing the right window box bracket for your window box.

There are two main options for hanging your window box. Choose either an adjustable window box bracket for hanging over walls, balconies or railings - or a fixed wall bracket for hanging your window box on a brick wall or fence.

Our window box brackets come in two sizes; standard (37cm long) and XL (60cm long)
If you have a long length of balcony to dress, we would recommend using the terrazzo windowbox with the XL brackets as these can be butted up close together to look like one long planter. This works because of the rectangular blocky nature of the window box.

The other styles of window box, such as the galvanised, bronze or aged zinc window box tend to best suit the standard window box bracket (37cm) due to their tapered shape.

Plant of the moment - Anthemis

Currently looking amazing in my garden is the golden marguerite Anthemis tinctoria 'Sauce hollandaise'

For me, with my phobia of anything more yellow than 'lemon yellow', it possesses the perfect colouring. Creamy yellow buds open buttermilk - against neat green foliage. Growing to only 60cm tall, this is a great choice for the border, perhaps in combination with Stipa tenuissima...

Although... I have a feeling it would also look pretty stunning in one of our galvanised zinc window boxes

COPPER WINDOW BOXES

It's windowbox season! Here are a couple of ideas I planted up today...

don't the colours look gorgeous against the colour of the copper windowbox

COPPER WINDOW BOX planted with:
maroon Pelargonium , Cyclamen coum and a variegated trailing ivy

Why not try with Pelagonium 'Lord Bute' or 'Tornado'

I particularly love the variegated stripes on the dwarf tulips leaves. Other favourite greigii varieties include Tulipa 'Red Riding Hood' and 'Quebec'

Don't forget to mix moisture retaining granules with your compost so that you don't have to water your windowboxes as often...

ZINC FLOWER POT

Winter might not seem like the ideal time for gardening, but actually it's a great time to get on top everything - planning for a spring and summer garden.

If you don't know where to start, we suggest that you start growing plants from seed then moving them out into garden in spring time.

For a contemporary garden look, our zinc flower pot is available in 2 sizes.

Small at 15x18cm, is the perfect size to disguise those supermarket flower pots of chrysanthemums or hyacinths.

Large, 24x30cm, is perfect for a bigger plant such as a lovely clipped box dome, or mature lavender.
If you don't know what to plant, Alice has a plan for you. Did you know that any purchase of a window box from Garden Boutique comes with a free window box planting plan that Alice designs specially for our customers each season to reflect current gardening trends.
